Magic

Equipment - All sorts of runes, staves, possilby items to high alch, and money.

Lvl 1-99

Method 1 Lvls 1-55: Combat - For the first 55 lvls, buy runes to kill some beasties. You'll have to start out with the air strike (actually, now it's Air Rush which doesn't require runes (I think) but it is just about worthless), and just move up from there when choosing which spell. Once you can cast fire strike, I recommend sticking with that spell, seeing it's not too expensive and it hits a max of 8 (it hits an '80' now since they did an update which the only difference is that it multiplied your hit by 10. So before if you hit a 1 you now hit a 10 but if an enemy had 5HP now it has 50HP. I can't explain it good with words so just play RuneScape an attack something and you'll see what I mean.) which is pretty good. Once you can cast fire bolt you should cast that if you can. It's more expensive so you choose, faster exp or less money either way works. Starting out, I'd attack chickens or cows. They're easy and simple and will get you to fire strike in no time. Once you reach fire strike I recommend killing guards in Varrock or Falador. They are weak to magic and you'll find yourself getting quick exp there. Once you feel up to it, you should go kill lesser demons on Karamja [under the volcano] as soon as possible (ASAP). Lesser demons are very weak to fire strike and you'll find yourself getting very good exp rates there. Get runes by rcing or buying them. Rcing will take longer but of course (it) is less expensive.

Method 2 Lvls 19-55: Curse - Casting Curse is great exp. It's also not too expensive. You get 29 exp per cast. It's best to cast curse on the dummies in Lumbridge, as they won't die like normal monsters, and then you'll have to waste time switching to another monster.

Method 1 Lvls 55-80: High Alch - High alching is very effective for these lvls. A good think to high alch is mage long bows or summoning pouches [the best being the stranger plant]. If you buy them from the G.E., you'll lose just a bit (of money I presume?), that is, unless you do it my way. With the update to high alching, you can now continuously alch while running around [because you can pre-load an alch by clicking an item you want to alch, even if you're already alching!]. This kind of puts an end to the tar method, but that isn't the bad news! There's now even better things you can collect while you're alching. You can actually do a number of different money making methods while alching, to name a few, flax collecting [great for pures], potato cactus collecting, snape grass, and even runecrafting nature runes [if you're really good]. I'd highly recommend combining high alching with one of those methods, as you'll profit from alching instead of lose money.

Method 1 Lvls 80-99: High Alch + Stun - High alch while stunning an elemental balance in you poh. This is very good xp, because you can cast both spells at the same time with high alch's update.

XP: 150k xp/hr

Method 2 Lvls 43-99: Superheat at LRC (requires 80 Mining and goldsmith gauntlets) Superheat gold ore while mining it in Irc. You can superheat and mine at the same time without losing ticks, so you get mining, smithing, and magic experience at the same time and it doesn't slow down your mining at all. You can also alch the gold bars if you want to but this requires a bit more concentration and you will lose money.

Method 3 Lvls 80-99: String Jewelry - Stinging amulets. This is really fast xp/hr but you much be on the lunar spellbook. It is pretty costly though, but good experience.

XP: 150k xp/hr GP: -600k gp/hr

Method 4 Lvls 70-99: Bursting Lobs - Bursting lobs is good experience and also gets you good charms for summoning. This method is pretty expensive, but if you use a sol, you can save a lot of money. The only problem with these is that you need a partner to be able to access them. Some clan chats will help you find a partner. One is called BurstingLobs, but the people in there are extremely rude so watch out if you go there.

Method 5 Lvls 86-99: Plank Make - Plank make is an awesome spell for exp. It requires Lunar Diplomacy to have been done though. It's best to plank make mahogany logs into mahogany planks. You should lose very little from this method, but it highly depends on the market value of some of the items. The only reason I don't have this as a higher method in my list is because you have to become a lot more involved with the market, and mahogany planks aren't the best selling things...trust me. Nonetheless, you can still sell them fairly easy.

Method 6 Lvls 54/63-99: Enchanting Orbs - Enchanting orbs is a great way to earn money while getting substantial magic exp. I'd suggest level 63 for fire orbs, but it's possible with other orbs, you just won't profit as much and won't get quite as much exp. First, buy unenchanted orbs on the G.E. and equip yourself with the corresponding staff to which rune you're making and a lot cosmic runes. It's also suggested to use a spirit terrorbird or super energies for run energy.

Method 7 Lvls 60-99: Metal Dragons - Right around lvl 60, you'll be able to hit consistently enough to try out steel/iron/bronze dragons. I'd suggest steel because they'll give the best drops. Using this method, it's a must to have Chaos Gauntles which makes your max hit with chaos spells (bolt spells) hit a max of 30 higher. Get necessary fire or air staff and a bunch of chaos runes, head to the Brimhaven dragon dungeon [costs about 1k to get in]. Bring an axe and food along with you. Venture through to the dragons, I'd suggest maybe bringing anti-fire pots. Then all you have to do is mage them with fire bolt.

XP: 35k xp/hr GP: Slight Gain

Method 8 Lvls 68-99: Humidify - If you can get onto the Lunar spellbook, you can cast humidify. It's not a great source of exp, but you can make pretty substantial profit. Simply buy unfilled vials, and cast humidify on 1 vial [will fill all in inventory], and you'll then have 27 or so filled vials. If you're good, you can do an inventory in about 8 seconds, and you'll make a profit of 10-15 (gp) per vial! It will benefit you greatly if you use a steam staff! So get one of those at all costs.

XP: 30k xp/hr GP: 350k gp/hr

Speed - Mage is actually a fairly fast skill and I'll say it's a 6 on a scale of 1-10.

Uses - Helps a lot in quests and also things just as bounty hunter and the dueling tournament.
