Woodcutting

Equipment - An axe/adze, maybe a tinderbox, and that's hopefully it.

Lvl 1-99

Method 1 Lvls 1-15: Normal Logs - Obviously you'll start your woodcutting journey on normal trees until lvl 15.

Method 1 Lvls 15-35: Oak Logs - Now you shall go cut some oaks. If you are a non-member (f2p) there's a few near Varrock you can cut and I think Falador not sure on Falador. If you're a member (p2p) go to Seer's Village and there's some right outside the bank.

Method 1 Lvls 35-68/99: Teaks - Teaks are very good to cut and are very unknown, in fact they're better than willows, it's been tested and proven, even with a rune axe at early levels it's been tested to be better. Recent testing has proven that teaks are even better than I expected. I managed to get the location of teak trees where you will never get a random! You must complete Monkey Madness [up to getting the greegree at least] though. It's on Ape Atoll, near where you get flown in by the gnomes. The spot is on the very south of the island, and about in the middle, east-west wise. Equip your monkey greegree and begin cutting. You cannot get randoms while you have a greegree on, so have fun!

Many people like to cruise the forums or do other things while they woodcut, and if you're going to do that, turn the sound on enough so that you can hear it when you chop down the tree. This enables you to surf the forums etc., and only waste a few seconds every time you cut down a tree instead of that occassional 1 log tree that you waste 30 seconds of your time sitting there doing nothing.

Random note: Familiars aren't worth the level bonus you get when woodcutting.

If you're unable to go to Ape Atoll, don't worry there's other places to cut teaks! Tai Bwo Village is another very good place to do this [Jungle Potion required though]. Here, you can get into a containment of them for 100 trading sticks [you buy these from the G.E. very cheap]. Burners don't really work anymore [people used to burn logs for you for free exp, but honestly you can't get them anymore]. So bottom line is, you have to drop your logs. There's 2 good ways to do this. 1 using mousekeys, if you're familiar with them. Once you're good with them you can drop a full inventory in under 10 seconds. The second you cut a log, you drop 1-2 [even 3 if you're super good] of the logs in your inventory and then quickly reclick the logs, so you can just cut for an infintie amount of time.

One other place is the Kharazi Jungle. Here is a great place to firemake/woodcut as a combo if you plan on doing that [which is the most efficient way to get both 99 woodcutting and firemaking.

At last but not least is the Castle Wars spot [located southwest of Castle Wars]. It takes a while to run there, but you can earn a decent profit of about 100k per hour, and a good 30-45k exp per hour. Make sure to use a dueling ring to bank, then just simply run back.

XP: 50-85k xp/hr GP: 0 gp/hr

Method 2 Lvls 30-68/99: Willow Logs - If you're having trouble with teaks, do willows! Also, try to obtain full lumberjack from Temple Trekking, which gives you 2.4% more exp per log.

Good spots to cut willows:

Draynor village, the most popular Barbarian Assault area, now that you can bank there.

Catherby area, just west of that bank there's some.

XP: 40-50k xp/hr GP: 20k gp/hr

Method 1 Lvls 68-99: Ivy - Woodcutting ivy is the best xp/hr from level 68 on. You can get insane amounts of experience even when afking. Just turn on your volume then open up a different window to view a guide (like this one :)   ) or whatever you please. Once you hear the woodcutting sounds stop, go back to your RuneScape window and click on another spot. Some of the best spots for woodcutting ivy are the ones in Falador [north of Falador and Southwest] and the one in Taverly. Also, because you do not get anything from cutting ivy, you go as long as you want [even up to 200m xp!!] without even leaving the spot.

XP: 70-100k xp/hr GP: Random [nests]

Method 2 Lvls 80-99: Sawmill - Sawmill is pretty good experience if you have the crystal saw, which gives double experience. You can get a good 87k xp per hour at level 82, and more at higher levels with this method. The only problem is that it is not afk, so if you are not planning on afking and you have good concentration, then this is the way to go.

XP: 80-95k xp/hr GP: 0 gp/hr

Method 3 Lvls 68-99: Teaks - Powercutting teaks is still a bit better than ivy or about the same, but you can not afk. Feel free to do it if you want though.

XP: 60-80k xp/hr GP: 0 gp/hr

Speed - About average [only if you use teaks, ivy, or sawmill, which gets you an average of about 65-80k exp to 99], which would put this as a 5 on a scall of 1-10.

Uses - Good money source and also a great way to get other skills such as Firemaking and Fletching up. Not much of a quest requirement.

Misconceptions - Mage trees are NOT ever acceptable to be cutting. Here is a brief explanation why:

_-Yews VS. Mages-_

Yews: 35k per hour, 70k cash per hour

Mages, 23k per hour, 110k cash per hour

To lvl 99.....Let's say you have 85 Woodcutting.

That's about 10M exp more [approximate]

Yews: 285 hours, 20M cash

Mages: 434 hours, 47M cash

That is saying 149 hours is worth 27M cash...now, is this true? If your answer is yes, than that is basically saying you have no way to make 190k [cash] per hour.

But everybody can EASILY do that. There are almost 8 ways listed on my money making ideas that have no requirements that make that much money per hour.
