Runecrafting (Part 1)

Equipment - Pure essence, rune essence, essence pouches, possibly money, maybe a pick-axe, several glories and dueling rings or completion of Desert Treasure or completion of Fairy Part II [these recommended] Protective gear from revenants.

Lvl 1-99

NOTE ABOUT POUCHES: There are several ways to get pouches. The first way is to kill abyssal creatures in either of the abysses [the one that the Zamorak mage teleports you to that you can runecraft from or the fairy ring teleport one]. The other, more reasonable, way is to buy them. You can buy the large and giant pouches from the guy in the runecrafting guild for 25k and 50k respectively. You can get the small and medium pouches by speaking to the dark mage in the abyss.

Method 1 Lvls 1-9: Air Runes - I think you should definitely do air runes through these lvls because it's a very close altar to a bank. The Air rune altar is located just west of Varrock and rune essence is required.

Method 1 Lvls 9-14: Earth Runes - Now I'd suggest for fastest exp doing earth runes. This altar is also VERY close to Varrock [slightly northeast of Varrock east bank]. It will get you slightly faster exp then the air altar. [If you want to get faster exp, take tele-tabs to Varrock...(cut-off)

Method 1 Lvls 14-44: Fire Runes - For these lvls I'd suggest crafting fire runes. It's a long hard stretch to 44 but I really think it's the best way. You have 2 options when making fire runes...

1) The fastest and recommended way if you have 150k to spare...This method will get you nearly 15k per hour which is very fast at this lvl. Buy as many dueling rings as you can, tele to duel arena, go into the fire altar and craft your runes then use the tele to castle wars bank. Then repeat the process. You can use glories to bank seeing it will be less expensive but just a tad bit slower.

2) Just do it the normal way, bank in Duel Arena [if you're Free2Play or Pay2Play, because the duel arena is now Free2Play).

Method 1 Lvls 44-54: Nature Runes - MAKE SURE, no matter what method you use, you get pouches from the abyss, it's definitely worth it. Making nature runes is the best for all of these lvls. You make a great profit, and don't get the fastest exp, but it's fine exp. There's several ways to make nature runes...

==FIRST METHOD== - Graahk rcing is now the fastest option to runecraft nats. The only downside is you need to get 57 Summoning for this. Many people asked me if it's worth it to get 57 for graahk rcing? Well, if you're going for a high rcing lvl, I'd say a definite yes. If you're just getting a few levels, probably not, as 57 Summoning is tough to get, trust me.

It's fairly simple once you get 57 Summoning. Buy Spirit Graahk Pouches in the G.E., which are fairly cheap, and then buy some dueling rings. Summon your graahk and use it to tele to the Graahk Hunter area. Then you can just run east for about 30 seconds, and you've reached the Nature altar [yes, you need a nature tiara].

On your run, you'll notice you can take two different routes to the Nature Altar. TAKE THE NORTH ONE. Although it looks slower, it's about 2 seconds faster [this is because you're always running diagonally or horizontally]. After you craft your runes, tele to castle wars and bank there.

==SECOND METHOD== - Using the new runecraft guild, you can use nature tele tabs to reach the altar. This method is explained in much more detail in the next post. This is an excellent option for pures and people without 57 Summoning.

==THIRD METHOD== - The abyss...

_-GUIDE TO THE ABYSS-_

  1. You must complete a mini-quest, started in Varrock by talking to wizard in the southern altar.
  2. First get pouches in the abyss. Bring some fairly good armor, but not expensive seeing it's possible to die and lose it all. Also bring some tele runes and a good weapon, and food. Kill ABYSSAL LEECHES, for pouches. It's by far the fastest way to get pouches. You can only have 1 of the pouch at a time and you can get all pouches, no matter what your rc lvl is. Kill the abyssal leeches in the northwestern corner, here there are hardly any other creatures that will bother you. ALSO if you lose all your pouches, you can get the smallest one back from the dark mage in the middle, which could save you a bit of time.
  3. For passing obstacles, use a pickaxe and go through mining and agility obstacles. It's important to have 70+ Agility/Mining for the abyss if you plan on using it for a long time.

SURVIVING REVENANTS - Reventants are probably less of a threat compared to pkers, but they can still kill you and slow you down! So bring either full ghostly [best option] or black d hide. Other recommended items are the bear helm [attained from Mountain Daughter quest], and Karamja gloves [3], which will tele you away quickly if you get frozen. Once again, these aren't a huge threat so I wouldn't be too afraid and preoccupied with trying to survive. If you're really concerned about it, go to Lumbridge and get a gravestone, in which will allow you to recover all of your items. Only the cheapest one is needed.

SPPED IN THE ABYSS - Set up your pouches on the sixth row of your inventory. You can right click and left click without  even moving your mouse to "empty" when emptying your pouches at the Nature Altar. Also, when approaching the bank, click "bank banker" instead of "quickly bank", you'll bank a half second faster. Banking is where most people make up time. It's very important to get good at banking, I can usually bank in 9 seconds, while others hardly do it in 15. Also, make sure to use super energies when abyss running.

To bank the fastest possible way, when you tele to Edgeville, click on the floor of the bank [1 square southwest of the deposit box on the northern side, and this will take time to perfect], and then quickly "bank banker" on the northern most banker.

You will NEED 10+ glories if you want maximum exp. If you can't afford that many glories, you can use ancients tele to Edgeville dungeon [slightly slower] OR you can use one more alternative, which is probably the preferred method.

You can put a glory inside your house that will have infinite charges. All you need to do is take home tele tabs when you go through the abyss, tele to your house and then tele to...(yet another cut-off)

XP: 12k xp/hr GP: 125k gp/hr

==FOURTH METHOD== Now you can also use fairy rings, which is almost as fast as the abyss, although you need to START Fairy Tele Part II. Use pouches, use the fairy rings to get to Karamja and use Edgeville to bank.

XP: 10k xp/hr GP: 110k gp/hr

==FIFTH METHOD== You can use the general store method, very slow but an easy way to do it. Note all your pure essence and bring along 20k. Sell your essence to the general store on Karamja [south of Brimhaven] and then make your way to the nature altar, which is southeast from there.
