Mining - Completed!

Equipment - A pick-axe, and that's basically all you need.

Lvl 1-99

NOTE: Rocks spawn faster in more crowded worlds, so whenever power mining, choose a world that has 1900-2k players.

Method 1 Lvls 1-15: Copper/Tin - Probably best to mine copper ore and tin ores to keep it simple.

Method 2 Lvls 1-15: Rune Essence - Rune essence gives quick exp if you want to do the "Rune Mysteries" quest.

Method 1 Lvls 15-80: Iron - Iron is the absolute fastest way to 80.

REMEMBER! When Mining, use the best familiar you can! If you're banking, I'd recommend the familiar that carries the most items [check the knowledge base for the list of familiars]. If you're powermining, choose the familiar that gives you the biggest mining bonus.

===BANKING=== The best place to mine iron in the game is the Fishing Colony [northwest of Tree Gnome Stronghold], whether or not you're banking. If you use the Spirit Kyatt, you can bank in Cwars, [for banking] then tele back. The round trip is about 15 seconds! Another spot that's great is the easily accessible Yanille. Iron rocks are just northeast of Yanille. It's the closest iron to a bank that doesn't require doing a quest or anything and it's not much farther than the Fishing Colony spot.

===POWERMINING=== Mini-guide to powermining, I have some interesting tips in here. The 2 places that are best to powermine are South of Piscatoris Fishing Colony and Ardougne. I find the fishing colony spot to be the best. It's the least crowded, and no quest is required to powermine. Ardougne would be my 2nd choice if I had to make one.

When powermining iron, it is possible to get up to 58k exp per hour! Many of you probably don't believe me. Read up for my secrets!

I'll do the best to explain my technique. PLEASE NOTE, you cannot do this unless you are in a lag free world, that quickly responds to your clicks. The normal powerminer will find that he/she goes in a circle mining, the next rock spawns just as he/she finishes mining the ore they're currently on. This takes approximately 7.3 seconds to do [all 3 ores]. Using my technique, you can do this in 6.7 seconds, it's very tough to perfect though. Whenever you powermine iron, drop an ore in your inventory as soon as you see the ore you're mining appear in your inventory. If you perfect this, you can mine, drop an ore, and click on the next ore with time to spare.

The Technique - So, starting off with my technique. At the first ore, normaally click it and quickly move your mouse over to drop an iron ore that's already in your inventory [as you always do]. Right as your character reaches out [and I mine right when he does this] drop the ore. You should still mine the ore if you do it right, but don't wait for that to happen. Quickly move your mouse and click on the next rock. If you do it fast enough, you should see a difference in how fast your character reacts. Then drop another ore as your character mines the 2nd ore, and mine the 3rd ore normally [don't use that technique again]. If you did it right, you should notice that when you start the circle of mining again, the ore will spawn about .6 seconds earlier than it normally does.

Sorry if that wasn't clear enough, I tried my best. All in all, you will notice it if you do it right. You also must be in a world where your character responds fast to do this! Only certain worlds, such as world 6, 18, and a few others work for me! It could be different for you though.

If you work this technique to perfection, you'll achieve 4k more exp per hour than normal. Add that on top of getting Varrock Armor [#s 1, 2, and 3 get extra ore at the same rate so just get 1 if you don't have it], which gives another 4k bonus, you're achieving 58k per hour if you are...(once again, another wierd cut-off)

XP: 48-58k xp/hr GP: 0 gp/hr

Method 1 Lvls 80-99: Concentrated Gold - Concentrated Gold is the best way to train mining from level 80 onward. More players mining it will make it last longer, so finding a gold mining world or cc would be best. Also, when you join these worlds, people will kill the Irc creatures for you most of the time so you will not have to worry as much about them.

To use concentrated gold, go to the Living Rock Caverns in the Dwarven mine. You can one click these rocks and get multiple ores [easily multiple loads before the rock runs out]. I highly recommend using an Obsidian Golem [73 Summoning] or Lava Golem [83 Summoning] for Mining boost to make it quicker. In the Cavern there is a bank deposit for quick depositing of ores for good profit. Also use a Dragon Pickaxe if you can as it is significantly better than Rune. Bring Armor as there are aggressive high level monsters in the Caverns, if you get attacked, you can maneuver around the rock to trap monster on the other side. Also try to find a world with lots of other miners which will help cut down the monsters attacking you.

The best way to do concentrated gold is to superheat the ore while mining it to gain magic/smithing xp. This method gives you the same mining experience, as the superheating does not interrupt the mining at all, but you also get around 50-60k smithing and magic xp/hr along with the mining experience.

XP: 45-60k xp/hr GP: 190-240k gp/hr

Speed - Mining is probably a 4 on a scale of speed, because if you're very focused you can get around 65k per hour in it, but most people will be averaging a bit less than 60k per hour.

Uses - Good beginner skill you can use to get money. Also used in quests (and Dungeoneering).
